An applicant company shall prepare the report of life cycle assessment result according the guideline.
Natural resources/water/energy use, amount of emissions to air and water, wastes, waste resources/water/energy recycling
Environmental impacts such as Abiotic Depletion Potential, Global Warming Potential, Ozone Depletion Potential, Acidification Potential , Photochemical Ozone Creation Potential and Eutrophication Potential.
The applicant submits the application form, LCA report and related documents in order to apply for a certification.
Application Acceptance
When applying for a certification to KEITI, the organization reviews the documents and issues a receipt. When the application is received, the certification evaluation procedure completes within 90 business days.
Document and On-site Audit
Required dates of certification evaluation is decided by the number of verifiers and document/on-site audit according to the notification of Ministry of Environment.
Regular audit takes 12 days in total, 8 days for document audit and 4 days for on-site audit.
Document/on-site audit is conducted by at least two verifiers and this verifier group prepares the audit report after document/on-site audit. The senior verifier prepares the comprehensive report and submits it to the verification committee.
The verification committee prepares the verification statement and resolution report based on the comprehensive report, and issue the certificate for the applying product.
Certification Result
Certification result is notified to the applicant within 7 days after the verification completes. KEITI issues EPD certificate for the certified product to the applicant company.
After receiving the certificate, the applicant shall submit the use plan to KEITI and receive the admission from KEITI.
Alteration certification and certification renewal
Before the certification expires, alteration certification is required for the following reasons.
Change of manufacturing process or combination of materials used in the product
Change of material origin, distribution pattern or disposal
Certification renewal is limited to the product whose certification is expired.
Verification procedure for alteration certification and certification renewal is identical to the initial certification verification procedure..
Follow-up management
Follow-up management refers to verifying the maintenance of certification requirements and investigating illegal use of EPD label. Follow-up management scope is defined as follows.
Continuous operation of manufacturing process and same ingredients according to the EPD certification received
Proper use of EPD label and promotion
Illegal use of EPD label
Internal verification management of product category verification system
Other investigation the president of KEITI considers required
Follow-up management shall be carried out at least once a year and re-adjustment will be made if necessary.
